Emergency Dentist in Lake Forest: What to Do in the First Hour
Quick first-aid steps that can save a tooth, plus how to reach us for same-day emergency care.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Ramin Khoshsar, DDS, DMD

Dental emergencies never happen at a convenient time. Knowing what to do in the first hour can mean the difference between saving and losing a tooth.
Knocked-out tooth
Act quickly:
- Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root
- Rinse gently with milk or water; do not scrub
- Try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in milk
- Call us immediately
Severe toothache or swelling
Rinse with warm salt water, floss to remove trapped food and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed. Do not place aspirin on the gums. If swelling spreads to your eye or neck, or you have fever or trouble breathing, go to the emergency room.
Broken or chipped tooth
Save any pieces, rinse your mouth and apply a cold compress. Cover sharp edges with sugar-free gum or dental wax until your visit.
Getting seen the same day
Call Baker Ranch Dental Spa as early as possible. We hold time daily for emergencies, and new patients can receive a free emergency exam.
